The best family beach in Mallorca is not always the prettiest one on Instagram. With children, the winning beach usually has calm water, shade nearby, toilets, food, simple parking, and something to do when everyone needs a change.

East Mallorca

The east coast is excellent for families who want coves, clear water, and easy access to guided sea activities. Cala Millor, Cala Bona, Porto Cristo, and Cala d'Or all work well as bases.

This is also a strong area for snorkelling, kayaking, caves, and boat trips. If you want to add a low-stress adventure day, check current family-friendly options at Skualo.

North Mallorca

Platja de Muro and Alcudia are the safest bets for toddlers: long sandy beaches, shallow water, lifeguards, and lots of places to eat. It is less dramatic than the coves, but extremely practical.

South and southeast

Mondrago is one of the best natural choices, especially if your children like exploring. Es Trenc is beautiful but needs more planning because shade and facilities are limited.

West coast

Port de Soller has a protected bay and mountain views. The beaches are smaller, but the tram, harbour, and restaurants make it a rewarding family day.

Quick decision

For toddlers choose Alcudia or Platja de Muro. For mixed ages choose Cala Millor or Porto Cristo. For scenery choose Formentor or Mondrago. For activities choose the east coast.
